Luis Vives

Born in La Jana (Castellón), he started his incursion in the world of musical performance through percussion instruments at the age of ten, becoming a member of the Sociedad Musical Santa Cecilia, in his home town. Afterwards, he studied at the Castellón Conservatory, and later, he studied a Bachelor's Degree in Percussion at the Granada Royal Conservatory. 

He has extended his education with specialists in different musical styles: Ricardo Belda and Jesús Salvador “Chapi” (jazz); Jordi Savall, Pedro Estevan, Glen Vélez and Fahmi Alqhai (early music); Felipe Cuchardi (modern drums); Matt Stonehouse, Diego López, Rubem Dantas and Iván San Juan (oriental, African and ethnic percussion); José Trigueros, Jesús Salvador “Chapi”, Leigh Howard Stevens, Joan Cerveró, Ángel Frette, Vicent Vinaixa, William Moersch, Josep Vicent, Carolina Alcaraz and Antonio Herrera (Classical and Contemporary percussion).

He has collaborated with several orchestras (Compañía Lírica de Andalucía, City of Baza Orchestra and City of Atarfe Symphony Orchestra), as well as with early music groups (Granada Baroque Orchestra, Tempus Fugit, Anónimo IV, Sesquiáltera, Zarambeques, Fandango Barroco, Todos los Tonos y Ayres, Claroscvro Teatro, Veterum Musicae, DeMusica Ensemble, Musica Intavolata and Ensemble La Danserye). He has also collaborated with other kind of groups, such as Luzanda (pop trio), Lara Bello (singer-songwriter), The Soulmovers (funk group), Tejaviva (piano-percussion duo), La Banda Morisca (flamenco and Andalusi music), Hamza Castro & Group (fusion of Arabic music and flamenco), Cuadro flamenco Isidoro Pérez, Fluxus Project (project based on fluxus art) o Noise Atelier (opera company).

 

His activity has brought him to perform concerts in important festivals, such as the Granada Festival, Almagro International Festival of Classical Theatre, Jornadas de Teatro del Siglo de Oro de Almería, Cursos de Interpretación Musical Histórica de Granada, as well as in the early music festivals of Granada (MAG), Sevilla (FeMAS), Vélez Blanco, Úbeda and Baeza, Morella, and Pyrenees (FeMAP). Moreover, he has performed concerts at important music halls, such as the Manuel de Falla Auditorium (Granada), Palau de la Música (Valencia), Daning Theatre (Shanghai), Teatro Auditorio de San Lorenzo de El Escorial, and Corrala de Comedias de Alcalá de Henares.
